Location, Climate and Geography
St. Vincent & the Grenadines is part of the
Windward Islands and our closest neighbours are Grenada 120km (75 miles) to the
south, St. Lucia 40km (24 miles) to the north and Barbados 160km (100 miles) to the east.
St. Vincent has an area of 344 sq. km (133 sq. miles) and is 29km (18 miles) long and 17.7km (11 miles) wide. The Grenadine Islands extend down from St. Vincent towards the southwest, the most popular being Bequia, Mustique, Canouan, Mayreau and Union Island. The average yearly
temperature is 27 degrees Centigrade (81 deg F). The coolest months are
in the dry season between November and February. During the rainy season, May to October,
rain is frequent and while hurricanes are very rare in the Caribbean, they rarely go as far south as St. Vincent. St. Vincent comprises of a Leeward and Windward coast. The island is very mountainous and has an active volcano, La Soufriere, in the north which rises to 1,220m (4,000ft) at its highest point.
Island Seeker is run by Vanessa Hadley who is originally from England and is now living in St. Vincent. She has thorough knowledge of the island and has vast experience of the Vincentian people, food, lifestyle, culture and history. It is her passion for the island which was her inspiration for setting up Island Seeker in order to share it with others. Vanessa is based and runs her company in St. Vincent and is on hand during your holiday should you need any advice or assistance.
